Bet you've been wondering where the hell the delicious recipes have been?!?!

We are here to make peace and entice your goodwill with a little throwback classic--Rice Krispy Treats.

Seeing as how this is the Active Indulgence blog, we had to do this recipe the Active Indulgence way: PEANUT BUTTA JELLY TIME!

PB&J Rice Krispy Treats

This super-simple, yet oh so delicious, Rice Krispy treat recipe is one to save for a rainy day. With large servings and only 150 calories (7.4g protein) per slice, this is a keeper.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups Rice Krispy cereal

  • 1 1/4 scoops vanilla whey protein powder (we used Myprotein vanilla)

  • 1/4 cup creamy, all-natural peanut butter

  • 3 tbsp honey-flavored syrup (can be purchased at kroger next to the regular honey)

  • 2 tbsp sugar-free maple syrup

Strawberry Drizzle:

  • vanilla whey protein

  • Walden Farms zero-calorie strawberry syrup (can be purchased at Fresh Thyme or online)

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl combine peanut butter, honey-flavored syrup, and maple syrup. Microwave for 20 seconds. Remove and mix together.

  2. In a large bowl stir together cereal and protein powder.

  3. Add peanut butter mixture to the cereal and mix until a sticky dough forms.

  4. Pour dough into a parchment-lined square pan, and press down to the bottom of the pan.

  5. Allow to sit for 1-2 hours before adding the drizzle.

  6. While Rice Krispy Treats sit, pour Walden Farms strawberry syrup into a small bowl. Add vanilla whey protein in small amounts until the glaze reaches desired thickness.

"Macrofied": The process of manipulating ingredients to produce a better nutritional profile, usually involving increasing protein while controlling or decreasing carbs and fats.

#2

Truvia, or erythritol, is a sugar alcohol that tastes like sugar but has very few calories. It is absorbed almost entirely in the small intestine and is excreted through urine. Erythritol has been deemed safe for consumption, and does not cause digestive issues like other sugar alcohols in quantities less than 50g per day.
